Felipe Kaizer is a graphic designer and, since 2023, a professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism, and Design of the University of São Paulo (FAU-USP), in the Department of History and Aesthetics of the Project (AUH). He graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio, 2006), completed a postgraduate specialization at the Centro Universitário Maria Antonia (USP, 2013), and holds a PhD in Design from ESDI, Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ, 2019). Since 2024, he has co-coordinated the Design, History, Matter and Memory Laboratory (DHMM) together with Prof. Dr. Eduardo Augusto Costa, and since 2025 he has been deputy leader of the DHMM research group, certified by CNPq. In 2024, he co-organized the seminar Problemas de Historiografia do Design at FAU-USP and, in 2025, the lecture series Capitaloceno, História Ambiental e Materiais, the book Histórias do Design no Brasil IV, and the seminar CNRC 50 anos: Depoimentos. Between 2009 and 2015, he contributed to the creation of the design and communication department at the São Paulo Biennial Foundation, working on five exhibitions and two Brazilian participations in the Venice Biennale, and in 2017 he joined the communications team at the Instituto Moreira Salles. Between 2014 and 2022, he taught courses and workshops at Sesc, the Instituto Tomie Ohtake, and the Museu da Casa Brasileira. He has published more than twenty articles and book chapters in Brazil and abroad; his doctoral thesis received the 34th Prêmio Design MCB (2021) and was published as O drama do projeto: uma teoria do design (Editora Sabiá, 2022; reissued in 2023), distinguished again by the 36th Prêmio Design MCB in 2026. He works in the fields of Design Theory and History, the History of Design in Brazil, Design Historiography, the Social Foundations of Design, and Material Culture.
