Eduardo Augusto Costa is a professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism, and Design of the University of São Paulo (FAU-USP). He is a member of the Department of History and Aesthetics of the Project (AUH) and of the Graduate Programs in Design and in Architecture and Urbanism. He holds a degree in Architecture and Urbanism (2004), an MA in History (2009) and a PhD in History (2015), all from the University of Campinas (Unicamp). He is currently the academic coordinator of the FAU-USP Library (since 2023). He is one of the coordinators of the Design, History, Matter and Memory Laboratory (DHMM), which he helped found in 2024 and where he develops the project História Ambiental do Design (Environmental Design History, 2024). He has been a member of the research group Arquivos, fontes e narrativas: entre cidade, arquitetura e design since 2020, and coordinates the national working group Imagem, Cultura Visual e História of ANPUH, the Brazilian National History Association (2023–2027). He is an associate researcher on the FAPESP Thematic Project Acervos Digitais e pesquisa: arte, arquitetura e tecnologia (since 2023), on the FAPESP Multi-user Equipment (EMU) project Infraestrutura de Acervos e Coleções: Aquisição de Equipamentos para a instalação do Centro de Ciência do Patrimônio da USP (2023), and on Surfacing Design Archives, a partnership between the University of Brighton and the University of São Paulo (2024). Between 2018 and 2022, he led the research project Cultura Visual e História Intelectual: arquivos e coleções de arquitetura, funded by a FAPESP Young Investigators Grant. He also served as deputy coordinator of the undergraduate program in Design between 2022 and 2024. He works in the fields of Design, Architecture and Urbanism, with an emphasis on historiography, focusing on history and historiography, environmental history, visual culture, heritage, and archives.
